Hobbies

We all know hobbies can be good for us. Keeps the brain engaged and good for our moods and self- esteem. It’s also another way to pass the time in a positive way, rather than staying within four walls and wasting away doing absolutely nothing. Boredom can be so tiresome! So it’s good to have a lazy day at least one day a week – usually Sundays, Haha! More than one or two then it’s easily for it to become a habit. So stick with your usual daily routine and participating in your hobbies will definitely make you feel a lot more balanced. Obviously, juggling it when you have a busy life such as having children may be quite challenging fitting it in your hectic schedules, but if you can try and find that one free time, it feels great and satisfying that you manage to have that ‘me time’ moment. Having that space to do your own thing is healthy.

So I have briefly in previous posts mentioned a little of my hobbies but never explained much in depth about them. I have quite a few hobbies I’m very passionate about. Firstly, the obvious that is blogging. Most of what I write about is from the heart and what inspires me to write a post. They are usually if I experience something really fun and enjoyable, such as having a lovely time spending the day with friends, we could be discussing topics that will really resonate with me and feel special, which compels me to start writing. It depends on the mood that I am in too, so I could be reminiscing on old precious memories or taking a walk somewhere that will inspire me.

Another hobby is listening to music. I can’t go anywhere outside without headphones. If it’s not outside listening to it, it’s playing on loudspeaker at home for hours! Sounds bad, I know.. Haha! But I’m very musical-minded and it means so much to me. From a young age, I would listen to the radio in the car, on tapes, CD’s and remember most lyrics to songs or would predict how a melody would be composed. I can’t read music as the music notes look like scribbles and nonsense to me, but I do have an ear and can pick up a note to the exact pitch every time. I’d always scream with delight when that happens because I feel proud that I figured it out so quickly, so I could show it to others and impress them.

Reading is another. I excelled with reading and spelling at school. Came naturally to me and my reading level at primary school was at a very high level. Do you remember ‘The Magic Key’ books as a kid? I would always progress to the higher levels and then start on more mature books. Non-fiction is my favourite. Always thirsty for knowledge and facts. A lot of science and nature books I was hooked on as a kid.

Acting and films. I was an absolute movie nerd growing up. I watched a lot of Disney, the old classic blockbusters, like Jaws and Mrs Doubtfire. We’ve all done it and went through the times of obsessing and watching them over and over to the point of memorising the whole script and of course, wearing out the tape! Acting has always been a passion and something that I hope to pursue as a profession in the future. I attend acting classes in the city at least twice a week and one-to one training with a very good tutor. I’m really enjoying it and making good progress. So that’s something to focus on and keeps me busy.

Gym. My fitness levels have improved a lot in the last couple of years so will continue to fit it in my busy life now. Keep improving and progressing. I feel so much more confident now and I enjoy it – compared to years ago you wouldn’t have seen me in one!

See you soon. 😊
