Fathers Day

I usually don’t do blog posts based on Mother’s Day or Fathers Day as it’s usually shared with my close friends and family on social media. But today I thought I would do one, and really post something that I believe is so important about fathers.

So what could you define as a father? Someone who is consistently around for his kids through good and bad times. They provide you with the emotional support, take interest in your hopes and dreams and will encourage you to pursue them. Whatever decision you make, they will be behind you every step of the way. They will watch you succeed and will support you when things fail.

But one thing for me is that when it comes to Dads and their daughters, they have a very special bond. Fathers are the first member of the opposite sex that their daughters have in their life. Having that amazing relationship with her dad is essential to a girls psychological adjustment and it shapes her childhood experiences. A good father teaches his daughter to have self-confidence which helps her throughout each stage of her life. He teaches her to express herself and to not be afraid of her feelings, so this allows him to be more attentive to her emotions. All these things will be a positive role model for her so when she meets a guy, these are the qualities she would naturally look for.

Of course, they aren’t perfect. Aside from being a dad, they are still just a person like anyone else whose lives can be complicated and with their fair share of problems. Yes, I had only known my dad for just 14 years of my life and if he had passed a lot later in life, maybe I could have had a much better understanding of who he really was. Like anyone else, he had his demons but in my eyes, he was the perfect Dad for me. My hero. And I would always remember him as the strong, funny, chatty, silly, most wonderful man I had ever known in my life.

So Happy Fathers Day to everyone. To all the daughters who’s precious dads are no longer here with us, we celebrate our amazing relationship we had with our fathers. We are grateful that they have made us for who we are today.

Dad ❤️
